The Inspiration

"Ang hindi lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.”

("A person who does not remember where he came from will never reach his destination.”)

This Filipino proverb reminded me not to forget my roots as I strived to adapt in England.

I missed the vibrant culture of the Philippines and longed to reconnect with that heritage. Disappointed by the lack of Filipino-inspired jewellery locally, I founded Aking Sinta in the hopes to fill this gap and empower our community.

Reclaiming my mother tongue as part of reconnecting to my roots, I knew I wanted a Tagalong word or phrase as a business name. "Aking Sinta," meaning "my love," is what my partner calls me. This phrase empowers me to feel accepted, enough, and at home - the feeling I hope to invoke in you through my jewellery.

Each collection honours a cherished part of home. The Capiz Collection centres on shells evoking tranquil chimes. Araw celebrates the sun on our flag. Luntian and Bughaw Collections showcase vibrant gems reminiscent of island landscapes. Perlas embraces the splendour of baroque pearls. Kurales surfaces ancient coral fragments that whisper tales of the sea.

I have more ideas that I cannot wait to bring to life! It brings me joy to share the beauty of Filipino culture and artistry worldwide through my pieces. I believe we should boldly take up space as Filipinos. My story and designs aim to inspire us to proudly embrace our roots wherever we are.
