The Founder
Mabuhay!
My name is Zoey and I'm the proud founder of Aking Sinta Jewellery.
I grew up in the Philippines and moved to England when I was 16 years old. I found it incredibly difficult acclimating to a new country and culture so far from home. Throughout my journey of self-discovery, I realised how much I missed the vibrant culture, traditions, and values of my homeland.
I launched Aking Sinta to honour and share the beauty of Filipino culture through jewellery. "Aking Sinta," meaning "my love" in Tagalog, is what my husband lovingly calls me. This phrase empowers me to feel accepted, enough, and at home - which is the feeling I want to invoke in others through my jewellery.
I design each piece to showcase different aspects of the Philippines and each piece has been thoughtfully crafted to spread joy and cultural appreciation. While only Filipinos may fully appreciate the significance behind the materials I use, my pieces can be appreciated by all. It would be a shame not to share the gifts of Filipino artistry with the world!
Through Aking Sinta, it is my hope to empower our community to confidently take up space and share our vibrant kasaysayan (history), kultura (culture), and kwentuhan (stories). My own journey in England taught me the importance of embracing my heritage. I want my jewellery and story to inspire fellow Filipinos to do the same.
Maraming salamat for joining me on this journey!
Nagmamahal (With Love),
Zoey
