Bridging Two Worlds: The Ancient Script for the Global Filipino
Join us for an immersive 3-hour online Baybayin lecture and hands-on workshop, hosted by Aking Sinta Jewellery in partnership with London Filipino Centre, led by John NL Leyson (author and creator of the Anatomya Framework and Baybayin GLOKAL).
Ever wanted to write your name in Baybayin — even if it has a British or foreign twist? This session is specially curated for Filipinos raised in the diaspora and heritage seekers in the UK, bridging the gap between Philippine ancestry and global identity.
What To Expect
- History and Artefacts: uncover the roots, relics, and true story behind BaybayinÂ
- The Anatomya Framework: learn how to read and break down Baybayin characters with easeÂ
- Hands-On Writing Workshop: practise writing your name in Baybayin, you’ll need a marker and paper
- The GLOKAL Advantage: learn how Baybayin can be adapted to spell foreign and modern sounds, so you can write names more comfortably and accuratelyÂ
- Live Q and A: bring your questions and get support as you practise

- Workshop Ticket — £7.50: one ticket for one attendee (registered email only).Â
- Workshop Ticket + Sponsor A Community Spot — £15: your ticket plus you sponsor one additional community place for someone who wants to learn Baybayin but can’t afford the ticket right now. If any sponsored spots aren’t used for this session, they’ll be carried over to the next workshop.
To support their Baybayin and Filipino language advocacy, all proceeds go directly to London Filipino Centre after set-up and payment processing fees.
*Community Spots (If Cost is a Barrier)
Aking Sinta sponsors the first five community spots for each session and add on any purchased by fellow attendees. Community spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If the tickets for your preferred session is ‘sold out’, email your request to puso@akingsinta.co.uk with the session date you’d like to join, and we’ll try our best to help out.
This is a trust-based community offering — if you’re able to contribute, your paid ticket helps us extend this support to someone else. Let’s reclaim Baybayin together — and bring others with us.
